Big Moose & the Half Marathon!

01 September 2019

Lisa is lacing up her trainers for an amazing cause…here’s how you can sponsor her…

Evans Entwistle partner Lisa is tackling her twelfth Half Marathon this year as part of a rather exciting team! “Big Moose” are an inspirational bunch who work with companies to realise their potential to fundraise – and the beneficiaries of their work to date have included such worthy causes as MIND, Barnardos, Teenage Cancer Trust, Velindre and Latch.

And then, after two years of feeding the homeless people of Cardiff every month for just over 2 years, taking them tea and coffee, getting restaurants involved in making food, bringing hairdressers down to cut the homeless people’s hair and rallying the south wales community to collect warm clothes and bedding (over 1100 bags donated in 2 months!) they moved into their own incredible coffee shop! Big Moose Coffee Co on Frederick Street has the warmest welcome in Cardiff, selling epic coffee and scrummy grub, but all of the profits are used to help homeless and other disadvantaged people get back into work and society.

The idea for Big Moose was conceived when founder Jeff Smith lost his best friend, Gary Cloonan, aka Moose, to cancer – this tragic loss inspired Jeff to create bigmoose, a non-profit organisation with a very clear intention – do fun stuff that inspires people to live better, healthier, kinder lives.Says Lisa: “I’ve run the Cardiff Half many times, but this year I can’t wait to run with such a cool bunch of people for such a worthy cause!

Also, don’t forget to follow #TeamBigMoose’s progress on race day, Sunday 6th October, and cheer us on our way with a mighty “Moose, moose, moose” chant!”
