Gift Aid Awareness Day 2020

08 October 2020

Gift Aid is an important tax relief worth £1.3 billion to the charity sector. But it could be worth even more – £560 million more!

Charity Finance Group (CFG) are asking UK-based charities, small, medium and large, to spread the #TickTheBox message far and wide on 8 October in order to shrink that gap. Now in it’s third year, this important campaign seeks to raise awareness amongst taxpayers that by simply ticking the Gift aid box when they make a charitable donation, the value of their gift increases at no extra cost to them – in fact, donating through Gift Aid means charities and community amateur sports clubs (CASCs) can claim an extra 25p for every £1 given. Your donations will qualify as long as they’re not more than 4 times what you have paid in tax in that tax year

This year, as a result of the impact that coronavirus has had on the charity sector, Charity Finance Group are extending their annual campaign and petitioning UK Government to temporarily increase the level of Gift Aid charities can claim. If successful, this proposed Gift Aid Emergency Relief campaign would mean that a £100 donation would be worth £133.33, rather than £125 and could raise an extra £450 million overall for good causes.
